Chicago clamps down on Airbnb and room-share hosts

Today, Chicago City Counsel will hear a proposed ordinance which will charge a 4.5% tax on room-sharing services in the City. The tax will be paid by hosts of the popular service Airbnb. This is another burden Chicago room-sharing host must comply with, who have been relatively left alone while cities like New York and San Francisco have imposed ordinances restricting hosting room-shares. In Chicago, host must already make sure they are in compliance with their rental agreements and condominium association declarations.
